Hi, I’m Eva—the gardener, seed saver, and bouquet maker behind Backyard Bannan.
I grow seasonal flowers in my Kenton backyard and offer fresh bouquets to the Portland metro area. Every year I tuck more perennials and annuals into the ground while marveling at how many creatures benefit from the plants around us.
I have fond memories of making snapdragons talk, finding Easter eggs hidden in tulips, and the scent of blooming jasmine. Perhaps this flower farming journey is a return to my childhood joy.
The first flower I planted when we moved into this house was a sunflower. Since then, I have saved seeds every season-growing not just flowers, but a deeper connection to this space and the joy it brings. That's where my motto comes from" "Plant seeds. Sprout joy."
The garden has carried me through some of the hardest seasons -through years of infertility, through the unknowns of a pandemic -and given me purpose and beauty in return. Now I get to share that beauty with you.
